This hood does have a built in latch but you will always need to install hood pins or AeroCatch latches for safety purposes. This hood does have a single vent cover for the center scoop but it is only loosely held by self tapping screws. If you need to permantently install the cover you would need to use a permanent glue.

This is a GIAL Vented Hood manufactured or distributed by ModeloDrive with FRP being the primary exterior surface material. ModeloDrive FRP (fiberglass) parts are high quality aero parts now available to the US market. ModeloDrive FRP aerodynamics have set a new standard for the fiberglass market. You may need to dry fit the parts and drill holes before prepping and finishing. Fiberglass may have cracks or surface imperfections that need filling and/or leveling. A professional body shop should fix any issues in the prep stage of installation and install the parts. You will need bolts, screws, and double sided tape, which are not included. All ModeloDrive fiberglass parts require modification, shaving, sanding, drilling, filling, cutting to ensure proper fitment but usually less than the competition.

New: A brand-new, unused, unopened, item in its original packaging (where packaging is applicable). Packaging should be the same as what is found in our retail store. To be installed professionally by a bodyshop with a valid automotive repair business license. Fiberglass parts always require prep work before they can be primed and painted. This product is made with fiberglass material, therefore it will exhibit chips, breaks, cracks, waves, scratches and holes which require modification. It is necessary to dry fit and drill mounting holes and preform body work before paint. Cutting and adding of fiberglass may be required for proper fitment. Ships direct from the manufacturer or a distributor. Primer finish. Hand layup is the manufacturing process used for the majority of our fiberglass parts. Hoods require hood pins. We do not offer any guarantee of fitment on vehicles that have been in involved in accidents and/or have body damage or customization.
All hoods and hood accessories offered by ModeloDrive are designed as aftermarket accessories intended exclusively for off-road and show use. ModeloDrive assumes no responsibility for any damage or injury resulting from the use of these products. ModeloDrive hoods are often lighter than stock hoods and may feature vented designs, which can cause additional aerodynamic lift at high speeds. As a result, hood pins or AeroCatch latches are mandatory to ensure safety, as standard hood latches may not provide sufficient security.
Due to the nature of carbon fiber reinforced with fiberglass and the manufacturing processes involved, ModeloDrive hoods are not “direct bolt-on” parts and often require significant preparation, such as sanding, cutting, shaving, and filling gaps. Additional fiberglass reinforcement may be necessary in some areas. Drilling holes for mounting, custom fitting adjustments, and modifications like drilling holes for windshield washer nozzles and tubing using a rotary tool may be required. It's important to note that not all original components, such as washer nozzles and tubing, may be transferable to the ModeloDrive hood depending on its design, so modifications or replacements may be needed.
Hood Latch Adjustments
ModeloDrive hoods typically require repositioning the hood latch to ensure proper alignment and closure. This involves carefully adjusting the latch, making small tweaks to move it up/down or forward/back until the striker catches securely. Given that fiberglass hoods may have slight variations or warping, additional fitting, such as enlarging mounting holes or using shims, is often required for proper alignment. Adjustments to or removal of hood bump stops may also be necessary for proper fitment.
Hood Accessories: Scoops and Other Modifications
ModeloDrive also offers various hood accessories, including scoops, which can enhance the performance and appearance of your vehicle. Attaching a hood scoop typically requires drilling holes in the hood for mounting, as well as using bolts or adhesive, depending on the style of the scoop. When installing hood scoops on fiberglass hoods, it may be necessary to add fiberglass reinforcement around the mounting area to ensure the scoop is securely fastened and properly aligned. Careful measurement and fitting are essential to prevent leaks and to maintain the structural integrity of the hood.
For optimal results, ModeloDrive strongly recommends professional installation by a custom shop experienced in handling fiberglass components and hood accessories, as traditional auto repair shops may lack the necessary expertise for these modifications.
Safety and Legal Use
ModeloDrive hoods, hood accessories, and other products are strictly designed for off-road and show use. Due to stringent Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, many of these products, including hoods and hood scoops, are not street legal. ModeloDrive does not endorse or recommend using these products on public roads or highways.
