Extreme Dimensions hoods are often lighter than stock hoods and may feature vented designs. These vents can increase aerodynamic lift at high speeds, so the use of hood pins or AeroCatch latches is mandatory to ensure safety, as standard hood latches may not provide adequate security.

Installation and Fitment

Extreme Dimensions polyurethane hoods are not “direct bolt-on” parts. They often require preparation, including sanding, cutting, shaving, and filling gaps. In some cases, additional reinforcement around certain areas may be necessary. Drilling holes for mounting, adjusting the hood latch, and making custom fitment modifications are commonly required to achieve proper installation. You may also need to drill holes for windshield washer nozzles and tubing using a rotary tool, as these original components may not always transfer to the new hood design.

Hood Latch Adjustments

For proper closure, the hood latch will likely need to be repositioned. This involves carefully adjusting the latch and making small tweaks to align the striker correctly. Since polyurethane hoods can have slight variations, you may need to enlarge mounting holes or use shims to ensure proper alignment. Adjusting or removing hood bump stops might also be necessary to achieve the right fit.

Hood Accessories

Installing a hood scoop typically requires drilling mounting holes and securing the scoop with bolts or adhesive, depending on the style. For polyurethane hoods, reinforcement around the mounting area may be necessary to ensure the scoop is securely fastened and properly aligned. Careful measurement is essential to prevent leaks and maintain the hood's structural integrity.
